Bielsa staying at Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa insists he will remain with the club and rejected reports he was poised to resign.

The Argentine coach criticised the club's board last week over the construction work on its new training centre.

It prompted the board to release a statement before the two parties held a meeting last Friday.

That meeting raised fears he would step down from his position but Bielsa is determined to remain in charge of the club.

"I will continue carrying out my work as I have done up to now," he said in a statement.

"I maintain the commitment that I made to the club."

Bielsa, who has a contract that runs until June 2013, led Bilbao to the Europa League final and Spanish Cup final last season.
