Brooking - No Harry problem
Sir Trevor Brooking has dismissed reports his reported feud with Harry Redknapp was the reason he was not appointed England manager.
The Football Association finally named Roy Hodgson as the successor to Fabio Capello last week.
Brooking is part of the four-man committee that made the decision and is the only one of the group to have playing experience.
It was a decision that came as a surprise after the Tottenham manager had appeared to be the overwhelming favourite for the position.
Non-starter
There have been suggestions that bad blood between Redknapp and Brooking dating back to the 1990s was the reason he was overlooked.
Brooking, though, has quickly moved to quell such rumours.
"To be honest, we discussed a lot of candidates, none of whom I had a personal problem with," he said.
"It's a non-starter. That didn't come into the decision-making at all."
