From the editor
Welcome to the 13th issue of SoccerCoachingInternational.
This issue of SoccerCoachingInternational features one of the best coaches in the world: Sir Alex Ferguson. Frans Hoek and Paul van Veen were invited to ‘Carrington’, Manchester United’s training complex, for an exclusive interview with Sir Alex about his vision on the game.
On top of that we are also bringing you an exclusive interview from Italy, as our Italian correspondent Frank Dunne interviewed Vincenzo Chiarenza, Juventus U20 coach. Our Dutch editor visits the Ajax training ground for an interview with ex-international Bryan Roy who is currently in charge of the club’s youngest stars, the U10s. And in the goalkeeping corner we are featuring an interview with former Southampton goalkeeping coach David Coles. Southampton, Ajax, Juventus and Manchester are only half of the articles featured in this wonderfully diverse issue of SoccerCoachingInternational. The remainder of the articles are made up of Paul Cooper’s first of three articles on small sided games, Christian Lavers’ “training a goal scorer”, James E. Robertson’s “Coaching the emotional side of soccer”, the second terminology article and of course Paul Cooper’s column.
Yours in soccer,
